About

Darlene-Marie Slagle (Darlene) has spent over 30 years in academic administration working with international scholars, many of whom have been non-native English speakers. Her gift is her ability to understand the road the scholar is pursuing and to provide suggestions for clarity WITHOUT altering the intent of the original material. She has experience in academic editing, including proofreading academic essays, papers, dissertations and manuscripts. Darlene’s skill extends to industrial articles and publications–and she has successfully extrapolated ideas to create press releases and marketing tools for technical publication. Darlene earned her B.A. degree with honors, is an English major, and she uses the Purdue On Line Writing Lab to insure compliance with the latest edition of The Chicago Manual of Style, now in its 16th edition. Darlene has experience proofreading grants and has worked with international and U.S. scholars and academic professionals. She also offers exceptionally quick turnaround time for technical editing services, where often articles are tasked with hard deadlines and no possibility to delay submission.

An avid reader and lifelong student, Darlene’s interests are vast. She also continues updating her skill sets with on-line courses, having recently completed a refresher course on Punctuation Mastery to stay sharp and she is working on her first novel during her free time.
